Competitors research:
For the competitor research, the companies that were researched were Netflix, Crunchyroll and Prime Video. There are two examples of good layout for a starting page from Netflix and Crunchyroll and one bad example from Prime Video. The reason that the Netflix and Crunchyroll one are good examples is because their starting pages are very clean and simple looking, not too busy with taps and movies. Whereas, Prime is the opposite, with lots of taps at the top that overwhelm the user.
Mood-board:
When thinking of the mood-board I wanted to include sections that would make appearances into my prototype. Things such as the top 10 TV movies/series in the past month, what’s the newest episodes of a series, continuing to watch for already having account users, frequently asked questions. All of these things have been received positively from viewers (looking at the popularity of the streaming apps and talking with friends and family that have accounts.)
Colour and Style:
When thinking of the colour and style of the app I wanted to go for a more simple approach for the style so that it doesn’t overwhelm the users with too many taps. For the colours I have decided to go with the primary colour blue and use different hues and shades of it so that there aren’t too many colours that will make it look too busy.
Personas:
When doing the personas I used friends and family as well as classmates that have a Netflix subscription to gather information and combine it to create the two personas that have age, bio, likes and hobbies. Doing this helps with understanding the audience and what they would like to see on the streaming app.
