For the group work we were asked by one to create a mockup of a poster that has a fire pit outside with a pergola in there to help boost the sales. For the second group they asked for a video that helps promote winter sales more than the ModBlox, telling us to create a video that focuses on winter.
For the first group that wanted the poster, me and the other two graphic students in my group decided to each of us do a poster each to showcase different styles for the marketing students to choose. While keeping in mind the fact that they wanted to include a fire pit (1) and a pergola (2). I used images from the internet and changed their hues and brightness in Photoshop before adding them to Illustrator. Using the pen tool to create a semi rectangle around the images that then added a gradient from white to blue to create a more winter vibe along with making snowflakes and adding the text ‘All Year Around’ in the middle to show customers that they can use their garden all year around even in winter.

The second group wanted a video that showcases winter more and that eDecks can be bought from at any season. For this no imagery was used, it was made in Adobe Express, the background of the snow falling for winter and leaves falling for autumn was used from Adobe Express’s elements. Using colour as well as background to represent the different seasons. It’s a quick 5 second video that uses typography mainly to get the point across to the customers. Using different colours for the words to represent different seasons; blue for winter, yellow/amber for autumn and green for spring/summer.

After the group work was sent to the marketing students, I didn’t think there was enough work to support my project or ideas, so I created two more posters outside of the group work.
The first one uses snowflakes and a blue undertone for the shadows of the typography on one side of the poster whereas the other side uses a more light-yellow undertone and a ray of sunshine and an orageny shadow for the typography. The deck at the bottom of the poster to both guide the viewer’s eye to the text and to also show that viewers can enjoy a deck in whatever season, with the ‘eDecks’ logo at the bottom.

The second poster was inspired by the ‘brutalism’ style, unlike the other pieces of work that mainly focused on winter and how decks can still be enjoyed in winter this piece of work focuses on the ModBlox. Using a picture of a ModBlox (3) in the top right and different relevant and irrelevant additions at the bottom. Adding the ‘D’ for eDecks, along with what their business is about and with bold letters and a single phrase explaining that this is for a pergola. With a grunge texture on top to give it a warned out look and a brown gradient for the colour of the usual decks.
